"A Portal to Paradise" research collection, ca. 1880-1996.

Summary: Articles, clippings, talks, and other papers about southeastern Arizona and its people including Portal, Galeyville, Paradise, Arizona and the surrounding area. There is some description of the Southwestern Research Station in Cave Creek, affiliated with the American Museum of Natural History, from 1956 to 1973. A final draft of Hayes' book, A Portal to Paradise is present which includes information not included in the published work. There are miscellaneous printed materials including a notice of a 1968 election, and a postcard with a drawing of the Portal general store. A 1973 talk about the history of Camp John A. Rucker is present.
